Is height a disability ?

My biggest single issue as a tall man is the way we're treated by airlines. It's not just me - every day I see tweets and facebook posts from customers complaining about it.

What annoys me the most is that there is a simple, no cost solution to the problem - give anyone who's over say 200cm priority on the exit row seats.

But they don't - because they don't have to, and can make money by selling them whoever will pay, rather than whoever is in need. The only way this is going to change is if our height gets classified as a disability.

Don't get me wrong - i'm proud of my height, and am in no-way comparing myself to someone with a far more significant disability, or someone who has to use a wheelchair, but the fact is that i'm 7 foot tall, and physically can't fit into a standard plane seat.

There's a case up in the European courts just now where a judge is considering whether obesity should be classed as a disability. If this becomes european law, it will have wide reaching implications as suddenly, obese people will have new rights, and companies like airlines will be legally obliged to provide for them.

And yet they'll still continue to ignore the needs of tall people.

In the same way as a disabled person can't help the circumstances they find themselves in, I can't help my height.

It was caused by genetics. Not cake.

Why should the obese have their needs considered, but not tall people ?

Ridculous...
